Sarah Kinnersley - jeweller
I'm a Cotswolds based artist, creating contemporary jewellery using a blend of traditional and experimental silver smithing techniques.
I specialise in one-of-a-kind and limited edition contemporary jewellery pieces, as well as bespoke commission pieces.
I love being in the outdoors, close to nature. It is both my creative muse and my sanctuary. I often work directly with natural materials found near my studio in the countryside in the heart of England or from the beaches in the South where I grew up.
Unique textures come to life from pressing molten silver and gold into charcoaled logs from the campfire, to form one-off nuggets. Fluid shapes appear when forging directly on pebbles from the beach. Small, dainty cups are created as air bubbles form around molten silver falling into a jam jar of water drawn from a stream.
Natural foraged materials come home with me from my everyday walks and find their way through my rolling mill or under a forging hammer. I am always intrigued to see what textures they will bring.
I like to marry these organic elements with traditionally set stones and familiar jewellery forms such as rings, brooches, necklaces and earrings. Creating something unique, yet familiar; an elegant piece of wearable art.
My nature inspired pieces are earthed in strong eco credentials created from recycled silver, gold and ethically sourced gemstones. My vision is to make jewellery that celebrates the energy of nature, makes you feel good, yet doesn’t ‘cost’ the earth. Beautiful jewellery with a light eco footprint…
